A Proposal Story, One Year in the Making

It was a Saturday. The weather in Blacksburg was being reasonable even in the midst of January, so it turned out to be a good day to go hiking. I had yet visited the Cascades, one of the most popular hiking spots nearby, and it was about time I made the effort to actually go. I went with my two good friends, Nicole and Emily, as well as my boyfriend, CJ. We were always hanging out on weekends, so we definitely wanted to make this trip together before graduating. It was a fun afternoon of climbing, picture-taking, and laughs. Seeing the waterfall at the top made it well worth it. I didn't think the day could get any better.

After getting back to campus, the girls went back to their apartment while CJ and I hung out on campus. I honestly don't remember what we decided to do that afternoon, it was not the part of the day that was memorable to me. Around twilight, as the sun started to set, CJ went off to his weekly club meeting at PokéTech, the club on campus where students met to battle and talk Pokémon. You know, because he's awesome like that. I stayed behind and just relaxed for the while that he was gone, unaware of what was to come that evening.

It was late when he texted me, letting me know that he was about done with his meeting. I was going over to meet him, so that we could go out to Main Street and grab a late dinner. It was freezing that night, the good weather from that morning was long gone.

After eating, we headed back towards campus. But on the way, CJ suggested that we should go star gazing over at the Pylons, a beautiful memorial that overlooks the center of campus. I complained, it was too cold, I just wanted to get back indoors. "Aww, c'mon," CJ continued to insist, saying it was such a great night to check out the stars for a few minutes, like we used to when we started dating. I eventually gave in, but I wondered, "why does he want to go see the stars so badly?" Soon enough, I forgot how cold I was.

We gazed at the stars, silently for a minute. He was right, it was a beautiful night. And then he says,

"Hey, I got a cool Pokémon card that I wanted to give you," pulling the card out of his backpack as he spoke.

I took it from him as he handed it to me, seeing that it was in a plastic sheet, protecting it. I started to read what was on the card when I felt something on the back. I turn it around to see a ring inside. A RING.

"No way. No no no way." I said. Was this really happening?!

CJ took the ring, got on one knee, and put it on my finger. He started talking, but I can't quite be specific on what he said, I was crying throughout the whole thing. But all I knew is that he loved me and I loved him, and in that moment everything was perfect.

I can't believe it's already been a year since that crazy night. And while I grow impatient each and every day, I know that when this story concludes in a few months, it will have been well worth the wait!

Currently...

Watching the snow falling outside my window, as seen above. This is the second snowfall in a week! I do love watching it as it comes down, but then it becomes kind of a hindrance the following day haha.

Gaming Kirby Super Star for the SNES. Lately I've been fulfilling my childhood by playing old games that I had never actually finished when I was younger. But seriously, this game is so much fun and doesn't take that long to actually finish!

Looking forward to taking a photography class at the local YMCA! I've had my camera for a while now, but still haven't quite had the time to really get to know it. I wanted to take this class last semester, but couldn't since I had a real class during the time. I'm really excited about this and I hope to be able to share some of what I learn!

Planning out my semester. I work best when I'm organized, so I'm trying to map out what my schedule will look like with all my different weekly activities.

I hope everyone is staying warm!

Color Me Happy

Top: Charlotte Russe | Blazer: Charlotte Russe | Skirt: Forever 21 | Tights: Target |
Shoes: Blowfish | Hair Bow: Japan | Watch: Japan

When it's under 20º F, windy, and remnants of snow all over the place, I like to wear COLOR! Because color can honestly make everything better sometimes. And let me talk to you about these sweater tights. Aside from being the perfect shade of hot pink, they are seriously warm! I definitely recommend that you grab a few pairs of sweater tights if you're like me and still want to wear dresses/skirts in the winter. I know I'm going to want to get a few more pairs!

In other news, this week has been filled with relaxing, reading, gaming, organizing, and cuddling up with my snuggie. Not a bad start for the semester. I'm already feeling organized and motivated to get a lot done in these next few months!

Simply Casual

Top: Charlotte Russe | Cardigan: Charlotte Russe | Pants: Kohl's | Shoes: Blowfish | Hair Bow: Hot Topic

I am currently sitting in my dorm room at Virginia Tech once more. Vacation has ended - quickly I might add - and a new semester will soon begin. It's not all bad though, I find that my life has a little more stability when I have a schedule and things going on. In a way, having less time makes me more productive. Does that happen to anyone else? It seems like it wouldn't make sense, but it works haha.

I wore this outfit last week on a little road trip to Richmond with my mom. It's super comfortable but still makes me feel great! And I loved that I could see the polka dots peeking through the cardigan, which sadly you can't see in these photos. And that's my dog Lulu, who wanted to say hi :)

And if you hadn't noticed, I lightened the tips of my hair last month. Sorry I hadn't posted pictures of it. I was trying to do something different which didn't necessarily work. But I'm enjoying how they look so I'll probably keep them for a little while!

What are you looking forward to in the coming weeks?

Oh Hey 2013

Oh hey, I'm back from the abyss! So sorry for my absence, as the semester was closing I found myself running around all the time, then all of a sudden it was Christmas, and then I was on a cruise (whoa), and then it was 2013. Oh and I do kind of suck at keeping track of the blog, which many of you probably noticed, ha. SO SORRY! But here I am again :) I hope everyone had a splendid holiday season!

While it may be a week into the new year, I wanted to share some of the best memories I had in 2012:
  • Getting ENGAGED! This is how I started my year, in the best way possible. Story to come later this month...
  • Graduating from college but still acting like a child from time to time.
  • Starting graduate school in the summer and rocking at it.
  • Going to Japan, possibly the coolest place EVER.
  • And of course, taking the leap to start this little blog <3
Better late than never, right? While I never really pay close attention to the new year, I do enjoy remembering all the fun things that happened throughout the year, which helps me remember that my life isn't completely boring and that life can be good :)

I am looking forward to what 2013 brings. But you know, mostly looking forward to FINALLY GETTING MARRIED. I'm not super excited or anything... So I hope you all will be excited to read about it because I'll probably be mentioning it all the time as we get closer to summer ;)

And for funsies (yes, I just said that), here are a few silly/fun pictures from my short vacation to the Bahamas.

My brother and I are super silly together

Proof that I rock climbed for the very first time! Not to mention it was ON A BOAT.

Monster wheelchairs

Boat, yo

A rad elephant made of towels hanging out with my Cowy. They're best friends.

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for the first outfit post of the year, coming soon!
