How to Accessorize Your Look

Hey Dinosaurs! Today I'm bringing you a special post! You know those days when you just want to throw something on in five seconds, but still want to look like you put some effort into your look? Well today I'm showing you how I like to dress up my plain pieces with accessories to construct something fun! Because accessories are seriously your best friend!

1. Start with a tee you love and some jeans
This is my new favorite tee!!

2. Grab some shoes with a little personality
The pop of color really makes a difference, even when it's a simple pair of flats.

3. Throw on a complimentary blazer
You can mix it up with jackets or sweaters too, and feel free to go for a shorter sleeve length!

4. Add a watch for a functional accent
For those of you that wear jewelry, you have a million more possibilities!

5. Give your hair some love with a bow
If bows aren't your thing you can play around with headbands, bobby pins, head scarves, and so much more! And don't forget, even your hairstyle can act as a great accessory!

6. Put on a pair of glasses that make you smile
Or you know, sunglasses might make more sense seeing as how sunny it is outside...

And there you have it! Your look is complete!

Top: TeeFury | Jeans: Kohl's | Blazer: Charlotte Russe | Shoes: Charlotte Russe |
Watch: Cariloha | Hair Bow: Hot Topic | Glasses: Japan

Other accessory options: scarves, hats, belts, pins/brooches, jewelry, bags, jackets, vests, sunglasses

You can use accessories to really get some personality out of your look and to really define your personal style. I encourage you all to explore the possibilities!

[Thur-- Friday Threads] Maxi-mizing

Dress: Delia's | Jacket: H&M | Shoes: Blowfish | Hair Ribbon: Freebie from ModCloth

Hey Dinos! I am so sorry that I'm a day late with this week's Thursday Threads! I've been all over the place this week that I didn't plan properly to give myself enough time to blog. I'll try to make sure I'm back on track for next week!

To let you in on a little secret, most days recently I usually just throw on jeans and randomly grab a shirt from my closet and move on. I've mostly been at home getting things ready for the wedding, so I haven't had much incentive to put more effort into it... But I was getting tired of that so I turned to this dress. The Maxi: the cutest outfit for the least amount of effort. That should be its slogan, ha! Seriously though, I can just throw this dress on and be just as comfortable as I would've been in my jeans. It was such a nice change of pace!

I hope you all have a happy Friday! Thanks for reading!

[Monday Styles] All Dolled Up

Top: Japan | Skirt: Japan | Cardigan: Charlotte Russe | Belt: Charlotte Russe | Shoes: Payless

Happy Monday Dinosaurs! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Mine was pretty chill, filled with gaming, movies, and some origami folding.

I wore this outfit for church on Saturday. I normally don't pick out tops like this one, but sometimes I like to jump to the opposite end of the spectrum, haha. I stumbled upon it while shopping in Japan. I was attracted by the lace peter pan collar and it drew me in. When I went to try it on, the cute sales girl also gave me this skirt to try on with it, since I happened to be wearing a dress that day. I ended up loving the skirt so much that I also bought it! Now I get a ton of use out of it.

Thank you for reading today! I hope you all have a fun filled week ahead of you!

Life Lately

Happy Friday Dinosaurs!

On this rainy day I'm bringing you a few updates on what's been going on recently!

Letter from my 16 year old self

As part of an assignment in my 11th grade AP US History class, I wrote a letter to myself that would be sent to me by my teacher six years later. I received that letter yesterday. And I realized that I am still as crazy as I was back then, ha! I laughed at myself as I read what 16 year old me wrote. While I vaguely remembered a few of the things I had included in the letter, I was still in for a surprise. I mostly wrote about what my life was like back then, who my friends were, my hopes for the future. I even made a declaration that I knew I would be a History teacher. Uh, what? This came as quite a shock seeing as how I've been engrossed in nothing but French since then!

But what really shocked me was what I found on the last page. All of a sudden 16 year old me got deep. I said that I hoped I would always try to improve myself, to strive be a better person. And then I said this:
"But most important is to be yourself. By the time you read this I want any care about what others think about you to be gone. Their thoughts don't matter. You are who you are and that's great. Just be a person who you like. Be the person you want to be."
I didn't realize it, but that is exactly what I've been trying to do all these years. Trying to be someone I'm happy with. Well past me, I hope I made you proud <3

Sending my wedding invitations

Yesterday I finally finished assembling and stuffing my wedding invitations! Now everything is getting REAL! I had over 70 invites and sent them on their way. I honestly could not be happier with them! Lauren from This Sweet Season did such an amazing job with them! I can't wait to share them with you after the wedding!

Pinterest Success!

I've been trying to beef up my beauty regimen in preparation for the wedding. I was looking into getting a lip scrub since I often get peeling despite my constant use of Strawberry Chapstick - something that I can never leave the house without! I stumbled upon this DIY lip scrub online, which you can fine pinned here. I am absolutely in love with it! I never realized how soft my lips could actually feel! It was super easy to make and this recipe will make enough to last you. I just use it every few days and follow with my usual lip balm. I definitely recommend trying this out!
Don't forget to follow me on Pinterest!

Thank you for reading! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Thursday Threads

Top: Charlotte Russe | Jeans: Kohl's | Shoes: Japan |
Purse: Target | Hat: Charlotte Russe | Watch: S.T.A.M.P.S

Hey Dinosaurs!

I can't believe it's already almost Friday! Is it me or did this week just fly by? Even though I'm not working or going to school yet, my days still seem to be filled up, especially with all these wedding preparations. But I am enjoying every hectic minute! :)

About this outfit. I just love accessories! I'm sure you've noticed. Sometimes I feel like my outfits become share-worthy only because of the accessories I add onto it. While this is one of my favorite tops of all time, it looks so much better with the pop of colors in the hat and purse, the bold watch, and the cute spring wedges. Don't you agree?

This weekend I'm looking forward to some church time with my mom, hang out time with the fiancé, and lots more wedding crafting!

I hope you Dinos have a great weekend!

Styles on Monday

Top: Hot Topic | Skirt & Belt: Target | Shoes: Blowfish | Hair Clip: Japan | Watch: S.T.A.M.P.S

Hey Dinosaurs!

I've got a little blog news for you. Starting this week, you'll be able to look forward to outfit posts every Monday and Thursday! So instead of posting at random times every week as it's been, now you can look forward to two scheduled outfit posts a week! But of course, I may often write other posts in addition to those throughout the week.

Now, about this outfit. I've pretty much only worn this skirt like this. But I knew I needed to change it up - or edge it up as I like to say. I tried dressing it down with one of my favorite tees and mixing up textures with these cute and awesome wedges. And of course, finishing it off with some studs in the hair.

This week I'm looking forward to lots of crafting in preparation for the wedding. I'm trying to go all DIY on as much as I can, which I assume I will soon regret, seeing as there's only a little over 2 months left and I have a to-do list a mile long (yikes!).

I hope everyone has a splendid week! Thanks for reading!
